This might be confusing but I will try to explain the best I can on this topic.
This is so we have sort of a game inside a game, the basic idea is you invest in a team (that's not your own) you hope they improve and if they do, your racking in the cash, if not you will be kicking yourself for days.
These are the starting prices for each team, this is based on the 2007-2008 standings and their winning percentage, you just move the decimal to the right 3 times and there is your price. here were the standings espn.go.com/nba/standings/_/year/2008
and here are the prices
Eastern Conference
Celtics $1,092
Pistons $872
Hornets $818
Magic $393
Cavaliers $1,165(Hornets invested)
Wizards $1
Raptors $614
76ers $1
Hawks $1,051 (Pistons invested)
Pacers $16
Nets $1
Bulls $9
Bucks $272
Knicks $1
Heat $842
Western Conference
Lakers $1,094
Spurs $675
Jazz $776
Rockets $822
Suns $324
Mavericks $604
Nuggets $680 (Grizzlies invested)
Warriors $865
Trailblazers $1
Kings $98
Clippers $30
Timberwolves $45
Grizzlies $249
Thunder $1
this is how much it would cost if someone wanted to invest in your team, as you might have guessed, the most expensive team would be the Celtics and the least expensive would be the Heat. Now just because you pay alot of cash doesn't mean you will come out with huge earnings, actually the opposite could happen and more likely to happen the more you spend. But don't go running to the Heat with your dollars in hand either, becuase that team could still be stuck in losing seasons. It's best to see what each team is doing, and a little predicting as well.
Now you might be wondering, how does someones stock go up and down? Well it's based on day-day activity's basically, it all comes down to how active someone is, their improvement, player achievements and of course winning. If a team is running like a well oiled machine their probably going to have alot invested in them vs someone who looks like they can't do anything right. This is what each team will be judged on.
Increase:
Improving in win percentage (it takes the average between both seasons if your team got 60.0% last season and got 70% this season, your stock increases 50 points)
Making the playoffs=$200(bonus 100 if you missed the season before, another 100 for every season you missed
Winning the Championship=$500
Player awards=$100 (for each award)
making trades=$50
Resigning a top 3 scorer=$100
Staying under the luxury tax(at end of season)=$150
top 10 new players in a category for League Leaders (Besides turnovers and fouls)=$50
top 5 team in Points,Rebounds,Assist,OPPG,Steals,Blocks and/or Turnovers=$100
amount of investors=$300 (for each)
Posting your DC=$50
Decreases:
Decrease in win percentage=(You lose money based on how much percent you went down, the opposite of what I said above
Missing the playoffs=-$100
Not posting a DC=-$200
Losing their best players (top 3 leading scorers)=-$100
Going over the luxury tax or staying there(during the season)=-$100
top 10 players in either fouls or turnovers=-$100
-50 if top 10 player drops out (Points,Rebound,Assist,Rebounds,Blocks)
Worse 5 in Points,Rebounds,Assist,OPPG,Steals Blocks and/or Turnovers=-$100
-$50 if team drops out of the stats above
GM gets fired=-$1,000
Worse record=-$200
Not getting a loto pick=-$200
As you can see, just because you have the best team doesn't mean your going to have a higher stock then an average team, you have a better chance but careless managing could hurt you in this.
Now that we have that established, let's set some ground rules before we move on, this is to prevent teams from giving alot of stocks to one team and to keep things fair.
-You can only invest in teams in your division
-You can't invest in your team
-If you pull out, you can't invest in that team until 3 seasons after you pull out
-Teams have 4 years to pull out, if not done by year 4 they must take the new total
-Everyone must invest to start
-You can only invest into one team
Some things to keep in mind and should know, I will post an article about stocks every 2-3 sims, each article will detail those improving the most, those showing almost no improve and those hurting the most. Also these will be updated after every sim, not season, so slow starts could be hurt as well as teams who loves to start undefeated.
So now you know who to invest in or are atleast thinking about it, where do you go to post? Post who in this thread and just hope they don't screw you over
